American Duchess™

TThe 6 deck American Queen is nearly two-and-a-half times wider than river cruisers in Europe and it's the largest paddle wheeler ever built. Spanning 90 feet across she offers two restaurants including a gorgeous 2-story main restaurant, lots of public rooms a variety of staterooms and suites, a small pool, gym, and of course a giant paddle wheel. The crew is all-american and you'll enjoy their southern hospitality. A lot of the crew members are from Memphis, Tennessee and they're just downright friendly. Perhaps the most impressive thing about the American Queen is the array of senses that she stirs. I've taken to calling her the Americana Queen. I enjoy the nostalgia of this vessel, especially the rocking chairs and swings where you can relax and enjoy the river. Staterooms range from cozy interiors to spacious suites with verandas, making it easy to not only find a space where you enjoy living but a price point that meet your budget. I enjoyed a wonderful dining experience on the American Queen especially the Southern style dishes, a twist on the comfort food that I grew up with Beer and wine, and some that are considered premium wines, are included with dinner. Also included at no extra charge on the American Queen internet, soft drinks, specialty coffees, popcorn, ice cream, and a lot more. You'll also enjoy some fun entertainment. There are some great production shows, plus there's a movie theater and a good selection of bars and lounges including the popular Engine Room bar. As an added bonus I appreciate the free guided tours on the hop on hop off steam coaches. The coaches also make it easy to explore on your own to experience all that these wonderful ports have to offer. The American Queen defies comparison. It overlays the best aspect to the ocean liner on a river cruise vessel cruising through the heartland of America.

The American Duchess

The American Duchess is the first all-suite paddlewheeler on U.S. rivers, a floating, intimate masterpiece that can carry up to 166 guests through America's heartland. The paddlewheeler, created from a 1995 hull, was completely reconstructed to become one of the most luxurious river cruising vessels in the country, featuring single-seating main dining and entertainment venues, soaring ceilings, and all of the features guests have come to expect on other American Queen Steamboat Company cruises.

Her suites range from 180 sq. ft to 550 sq. ft., allowing guests to stay in some of the largest accommodations on the rivers. Unique to the American Duchess are her spacious Loft Suites, that measure at 550 sq. ft.. The lower level features a full bathroom, small dining area, a beautiful lounge section furnished with a queen sofa-bed and desk area, along with sliding doors to access a private balcony. The loft area upstairs is a tranquil retreat with its semi-private bedroom, a full bathroom and gracious closet space.

Featuring a single-seating schedule in the beautiful Grand Dining Room, dining onboard is an experience. Enjoy 5-star cuisine that blends local flavors and fine culinary traditions. A more casual atmosphere is offered at The River Club and Terrace, which can host over 80 guests who wish to dine at their own pace.

Combining the best of the old and the new, this beautiful lady of the river epitomizes the grace and grandeur that has made River Cruising a cherished American tradition for more than two centuries. One voyage and you’ll see why.

American Queen Steamboat Company is strongly committed to preserving the marine environment and continually strives to do our part in keeping America's waterways clean.
