This year, during her annual six-week lay-up period, the American Queen received four newly-renovated suites. Eight cabins on Deck 5 were combined into four Luxury Suites, due to the large demand for the higher-end cabins on the vessel. These accommodations have been a wild success with guests on the first few cruises of the season and are nearly sold out throughout the fall of 2017.

These lavish new suites are just over 350 square feet including interior and exterior access, both living and sleeping areas and a spacious bathroom. From the interior entrance, you are welcomed by a rich walnut built-in vanity with mirror and desk area, as well as the entrance to the bathroom. The bathroom is stunning, featuring marble tile from floor-to-ceiling. It has a shower and tub combination, as well as a double vanity. As you continue through the suite, you will find a queen bed with a plush headboard and walnut built-in closets for storage, as well as a mini-fridge, Keurig® coffee maker and bar area. A large, flat-screen TV is mounted on the wall towards the center of the suite for easy viewing from the bed and seating areas. A second desk area, two plush arm chairs and a love seat complete the room, along with beautiful French doors that open to the deck.

The décor and style of this suite is slightly different from other American Queen accommodations, as it is veers away from the Victorian period and provides a glimpse into what can be expected onboard the new American Duchess™ – a luxurious, classic-contemporary feel with the charm of antique accents.

Guests staying in these Luxury Suites will receive our one-of-a-kind Commodore Services®, including River Butler. This elite-level of service includes pre-boarding privileges, a bottle of wine with fruit basket upon arrival, preferred dining arrangements in the J.M. White Dining Room, reserved balcony seating in the Grand Saloon theater and a private reception with Senior Officers of the American Queen. River Butler service includes a warm welcome with a tour of your suite, unpacking and hanging of clothes in addition to the preparation and packing of your luggage, laundry and pressing services along with shoe shine and conditioning, afternoon tea served in your suite, breakfast and dinner served on your private veranda (upon request), in-suite pre-dinner canapés and post-dinner sweets, as well as a personal escort to your reserved balcony seating in the Grand Saloon theater.

Also new to guests for 2017 is the renovation of the River Grill and Bar. Located at the stern of the vessel on Deck 5, just over the iconic, red paddlewheel, this public area has received a fresh new look. Guests can enjoy warmer weather with a beverage and snack, listening to the authentic calliope being played, as the American Queen sets sail.

Come sail with us this year to experience these upgrades and so much more!
